Dynamic Fields

Content blocks in emails or messages that change based on recipient data. Could be variables (icebreaker, company name), conditional logic (if title = VP, say X; if title = Director, say Y), or triggered insertions (if recent funding, mention growth).

why it matters

Static emails don't convert at scale. Dynamic fields let you personalize without writing 50 versions of the same email. The template structure stays the same, but the details shift per contact. It's how you get "mass personalization" without it feeling mass.

how I use it

Most of my dynamic fields are simple variables ({first_name}, {icebreaker}). Occasionally I use conditional logic in Clay before the email sends — if persona tier = 1-2, route to high-priority sequence; if tier = 3-4, route to standard sequence. If company score < 6, skip entirely. The "dynamic" part happens in Clay. By the time the email reaches Instantly, the content is already personalized and locked in.
