The 3-Campaign Structure
A campaign architecture where you run three distinct campaigns simultaneously, each with a different approach, angle, or persona target. Not A/B testing within one campaign — three separate campaigns with different strategic bets.
A single campaign gives you one data point. You either win or lose. Three campaigns give you comparison data. Campaign 1 might outperform 2 and 3 — now you know the angle that works. Campaign 2 might have higher open rates but lower reply rates — now you know the subject line works but the body needs adjustment. The 3-campaign structure turns outbound from gambling into experimentation.
I structure the three campaigns with intentionally different approaches. Campaign 1 is usually the "safe" bet — proven messaging, primary persona, highest-fit segment. Campaign 2 is the test — new angle, secondary persona, or different vertical. Campaign 3 is the wildcard — "poke the bear" messaging, edge-case persona, or a segment I'm not sure about. I run all three for 2-3 weeks, compare metrics, then double down on winners and iterate on losers.
